Catching up on research and innovation in Romania

Romania started taking part in the European research Framework Programmes soon after the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

It was the third Framework Programme and, at that moment, science demonstrated itself as a common universal language, with no borders.

Romania, alongside all the future inaugural EU12 member countries, was embarking on an exciting scientific adventure, through a Framework Programme component called Pays d’Europe Centrale et Orientale, or PECO.

One such success story is the Petru Poni Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry in Iași, a research organization that is highly appreciated at international level.
