National Ombudsman Maya Manolova on Monday opened the first meeting of the new council for monitoring of disability policies and disabled people. Manolova chairs the new body which was established under the latest revisions to the People with Disabilities Act. The meeting was attended by Health Minister Kiril Ananiev, Labour Minister Bisser Petkov, public officials and members of civic organizations.
The nine-member monitoring council will work to prevent violations of the rights of people with disabilities, draw up annual rеports, and review national legislation.
